Plans for Litter 2014–Feedback Appreciated!

Yes, you heard me right! We are planning for our 2014 summer litter! Nikki has not yet gone into heat this spring, but we are expecting her to anytime between now and the end of April. So, let’s say she goes into heat right around the second week of April. Her puppies, then, would be born sometime near the second week of June, and ready to go in mid-August.

This year I was thinking of doing something a little different. I am debating if I should cross Nikki (our F1 Cavachon mother) with a purebred Poodle sire this year instead of with a purebred Bichon. Cavapoochons apparently are starting to become very popular as of late. You can read more about them in this NY Daily News article: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/new-cava-poo-chon-dog-breed-lose-puppy-face-article-1.1524192. (NOTE: We at Countryside Cavachons most certainly would not be attaching such exorbitant price tags to our puppies!)

Poodles are “sensitive, intelligent, lively, playful, proud, and elegant” as Puppy Find states here. They are hypoallergenic and non-shedding, as are Cavachons. They also come in more varied colors than do Bichons. I’m very intrigued by the idea of mixing the best of three breeds (Cavalier, Bichon, and Poodle), and I’m also very excited about the prospect of getting some other colors in the pups. But, we highly value our customer’s opinions, so, I’d like to hear what your thoughts are on the matter. We have not yet decided for certain if we are going to do Cavapoochons this year or just stick with plain and simple Cavachons. Your feedback will go a long way in helping us make this decision.

So, if you had to choose, would you prefer a Cavapoochon or a Cavachon? You can vote in the poll below and/or email or comment with your thoughts. Thanks so much for your feedback!
